I am inspired by the raised lacquer decoration technique. I am creating a tea bowl with a design of white chrysanthemums raised against a gold background reminiscent of maki-e.
Chrysanthemums, which are one of Japan’s national flowers and the emblem of the Imperial family, have been cherished in Japan since ancient times. The flower symbolizes trust and nobility, conveying a high sense of elegance and is also seen as a symbol of longevity. Using such a dignified theme, I have crafted a tea bowl that exudes an atmosphere of high prestige.
